"You belong to my heart, now and forever / And our love had it's start, not long ago / We were gathering stars while a million guitars played our love song / When I said, "I love you", every beat of my heart said it, too," croons Sir Cliff Richard in "You Belong to My Heart." Backed by the surfy rock 'n' roll of The Shadows, Cliff Richard released the song in 1965, three years before he sang the UK's entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, "Congratulations," written and composed by Bill Martin and Phil Coulter. "You Belong to My Heart" has its origns in Mexico, where it was titled "Solamente Una Vez" ("Only Once") under the guises of a bolero song by Mexican songwriter Agustín Lara and first performed by singer Ana María González and tenor José Mojica in the 1941 film Melodías de América. Over the next few decades, an adaptation of the track made it into an English-language market with Bing Crosby and the Xavier Cugat orchestra notably recording a version in February 1945 for Decca Records.
