Chris Isaak's searing dark-pop love song "Wicked Game" was released as a single in 1989 but found fame after appearing in the 1990 David Lynch cult classic Wild at Heart. This tale of obsessive love cracked the US Top 10 in January 1991, seizing the Number six spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and giving Chris Isaak the breakthrough hit of his career. The song also drove the album on which it was featured, Heart Shaped World,(1989) towards double-platinum status. Over the years, multiple artists have had a stab at recreating the crooning melodrama of "Wicked Game", from indie darlings like R.E.M. and Mac DeMarco to fully-fledged icons like Celine Dion and Tori Amos. Iowa rockers Stone Sour stepped up to the plate in 2016 for an acoustic version of "Wicked Game" recorded especially for the 10th-anniversary edition of their second studio album, Come What(ever) May.
