Following the end of War World II in 1945, audiences all over the globe were in desperate need of a bit of good old-fashioned fun. And that's precisely what American saxophonist and bandleader Louis Jordan delivered on "Let the Good Times Roll," a cheery uptempo jump blues track that served as an open invitation to celebrate after some of the darkest years in recent history. Written by Louis Jordan and New Orleans blues musician Sam Theard, the song went through several incarnations before its first recording by Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five in 1946. Shortly after its commercial release, "Let the Good Times Roll" became a smash hit for Louis Jordan, reaching Number 2 on the Billboard R&B charts. In the decades that followed, the track went on to be covered extensively by countless blues musicians, including Koko Taylor and B.B. King. The latter often opened his shows with the song and would later make an appearance on Brad Paisley's own version, recorded in Las Vegas and included in his 2008 album Play: The Guitar Album.
