"Feliz Navidad" is a Christmas song written and performed by Puerto Rican singer-songwriter José Feliciano. The song was first released in 1970 and has since become a holiday classic, known for its catchy, upbeat melody and catchy chorus. Written during a period of homesickness while living in Los Angeles, the original version of "Feliz Navidad" honors José Feliciano's Latin heritage with its uplifting Spanish lyrics and the use of the traditional Puerto Rican cuatro. In 1981, the German-based dance group Boney M. recorded a version of the Christmas classic for their holiday LP, Christmas Album.
