"Open your eyes and look within: Are you satisfied with the life you're livin'?" asks Bob Marley on "Exodus," a reggae rallying call to arms comprised of multiple layers. On one hand, the song alludes to Bob Marley's Rastafarian faith and the Old Testament story of Moses guiding his people to safety. However, "Exodus" also feels reflective of the upheaval he was experiencing after fleeing Jamaica. "Exodus" is the title track of Bob Marley & the Wailers' 1977 magnum opus of the name same, which housed some of their biggest hits: Jamming,” Waiting In Vain,” Three Little Birds,” and One Love/People Get Ready.” The socio-politically minded LP was recorded during Bob Marley's time living in London, during which he hung out with the likes of Don Letts and was surrounded by the rebellious punk energy that was sweeping through the punk capital. Exodus peaked at number eight on the UK Album Chart and clung to its position for 56 consecutive weeks.
