You know Christmas is around the corner when the dulcet, Irish Cream-smooth tones of the King of Chrsitmas aka Bing Crosby start ringing in your ears at every turn and lighting up the TV screen, or the radio waves. "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas / Everywhere you go / Take a look in the Five & Ten / Glistening once again / With candy canes and silver lanes aglow," croons the Oscar-winning singer on his sparkling 1950 gem, "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas." Bing Crosby was of course known best for his recording of Irving Berlin's "White Christmas," which he introduced on a Christmas Day radio broadcast in 1941 and which became the biggest hit of his career, but this 1951 version of "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" – originally written by Meredith Willson in 1951 – recorded with the Andrew Sisters is also up there like the star at the top of the Christmas tree.
