California's Bethel Church started making music in 2001 under the Bethel Music name and in 2015 added several non-Californians to form their Artist Collective. They went on to put out a prolific number of contemporary worship music releases over the years, including their sixteenth full-length release Victory; a 14-track live album inspired by the biblical account of King Jehoshaphat's victory over the Moabite alliance in war by sending out a group of worshipers as a vanguard for his army. Written by Ed Cash (who also took on production duties), Ben Fielding, Jason Ingram, Brian Johnson and Jenn Johnson, "Goodness of God" was the LP's third single and zoomed to number 15 on the US Hot Christian Songs chart. CeCe Winans' version of the track (which was inspired by Jenn Johnson's experience of adopting her fourth child) was also nominated for the 2020 GMA Dove Award for Worship Recorded Song of the Year.
