Doo-wop hero Frankie Valli bagged his first solo number one single and first hit in a decade with "My Eyes Adored You" in 1975. Written by Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan, "My Eyes Adored You" was originally recorded by The Four Seasons in early 1974 before Frankie Valli got his hands on the song and soared to the heights of commercial fame. Andy Williams, Fred Astaire and Marty Mitchell also took turns in covering the track. In 2007, the one and only Barry Manilow put his own stamp on this suavely romantic ode for his easy listening covers album The Greatest Songs of the Seventies (2007), the follow-up to 2006's The Greatest Songs of the Sixties. Across 18 tracks, the American everyman offers his take on an assortment of 1970s favourites, from Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and The Hollies' "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" to Elton John's "Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word."
