Barbara Pravi's 2021 Eurovision stunner "Voilà" is a paean to vulnerability and self-acceptance. "There, there, there, there, there I am / Here I am even if stripped bare, I'm afraid, yes / Here I am in the noise and in the silence," she sings in the first chorus, over stripped back piano that amplifies the song's theme. The Paris-born singer—whose father is of Serbian and Algerian Jewish descent and mother is of Polish Jewish and Iranian origin—explained that the semi-autobiographical track, which picks up the pace into a swirling tangle of strings and lighting-quick keys, depicts the experience of domestic violence. After being chosen by public televoting as well as jury votes at the initial Eurovision France, c'est vous qui décidez! broadcast, Barbara Pravi finished second in the final competition, which took place in Rotterdam, scoring 499 points just behind Italian four-piece Måneskin.
