Austin Williams pulls from some of hip-hop's tried-and-tried classics in this electrifying 1990s golden age rap mashup (which sneaks in a couple of naughties outliers from Nelly and Afroman). But there's a twist—Austin Williams is a country artist. Released in 2023, the Nashville-raised artist—fresh from his 2023 EP debut Wanna Be Saved—breathes new life into old favourites, singing and rapping the following handpicked tracks in his unique lilt. Many of rap's unrivalled greats make an appearance. DMX's "Ruff Ryders' Anthem" (1998), Nelly's 2000 number "Country Grammar (Hot Shit)," Master P's "Bourbons and Lacs," the iconic 1993 mainstay by Dr. Dre, "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang," Da Brat's 1997 single "Ghetto Love," Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's "1st of Tha Month" (1995) Nelly's "Air Force Ones" (2002) Afroman's 2000 track "Crazy Rap (Colt 45)" all get a look in, with Austin Williams sometimes switching up the lyrics where appropriate.
