"Toys in the Attic" is the title track of Aerosmith's third studio album. The album, which contains the original version of "Walk this Way" plus the rock classic "Sweet Emotion," is the band's best-selling album in the US. "Toys in the Attic" was written by vocalist Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry. The singer described writing the song as organic, immediate, and infectious, explaining that Perry started playing a riff and he jumped in singing "toys! toys! toys!" They've been writing great songs together since 1970, but their relationship has sometimes been less than harmonious. They've gone through rehab, firings, and solo projects, but that undeniable chemistry keeps pulling them back together. At the time of this writing, the two are getting along great. Perry recently said of Tyler, "I consider him the brother I never had."
