"Gone Shootin'" is a song by AC/DC from their 1978 album Powerage. The album was a favorite of the band's guitarist Malcolm Young who called it their most underrated album. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen and Keith Richards named it as their favorite AC/DC record, too. "Gone Shootin'" is about heroin addiction. The dark lyrics describe watching a loved one losing their battle with drugs. "Backed her favorite nag / But she could never win / I took an offer in another town / She took another pill / She was runnin' in an overdrive / A victim of overkill." The song was co-written and sung by Bon Scott who died of acute alcohol poisoning two years later at the age of 33.
