AC/DC breathed rock 'n' roll hellfire into supersonic Delta blues treasure "Baby, Please Don't Go," which was first recorded by Delta blues musician Big Joe Williams in 1935, with John Lee Hooker’s 1949 arrangement of the song forming the basis for a raft of cover versions. The song – which is widely considered to be one of the most reworked pieces in blues history and is thought to be an adaptation of the African-American "Long John" work song rooted in the slavery era – has been recorded by a number of rock groups, including Northern Irish group Them in 1964, Aerosmith and AC/DC who shrieked their way through the sing-a-long chorus, "Baby please don't go / Baby please don't go / Baby please don't go down to New Orleans / You know I love you so / Baby please don't go," for their November 1974 version, which was recorded for the Australian rockers 1975 Australian debut album, High Voltage. "Baby, Please Don't Go" has been inducted into both the Blues and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame.
