Ninja Sex Party should not be taken seriously. The comedy music duo of singer Dan Avidan and keyboardist Brian Wecht have literally built their career on one big joke: themselves. Forming in New York in 2009, the pair drew inspiration from fellow comedy musical dwellers The Lonely Island and Flight of the Conchords to construct a fictional character who takes the form of unitard-wearing Jewish superhero. With his trusted ninja best friend in tow, the pair channel their silly, profane misadventures through the vehicle of rock and synth-pop. Ninja Sex Party have since logged a stack of family-unfriendly albums, including 2011 debut NSFW and 2013's Strawberries and Cream, which cracked the US Billboard 200 and on which "Unicorn Wizard" is contained. Mining the band's typically lascivious fare, the song imagines a superhero whose "horn is my strength and my strength is my power / And my power is my horn and my horn is my dick," leaving little to the imagination.
