"Black Like Me" is a song by Mickey Guyton who is the first black female country artist signed to a major label. The song takes its title from the 1961 bestselling book of the same name by John Howard Griffin, which explored inequality and racism in the South. Guyton's song is about her own experiences with those issues. "Little kid in a small town / I did my best just to fit in / Broke my heart on the playground / When they said I was different". Guyton said she originally wrote the song to heal her own heart but now realizes it was meant to heal every heart. She was the first solo black artist to receive a Grammy nomination in a country category.
The backing track for "Black Like Me" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
