"Witch Doctor" is a popular song by Cartoons DK, a Eurodance band from Denmark. It's a cover of the 1958 novelty song originally by Ross Bagdasarian, known as David Seville. Released on October 26, 1998, as part of their debut album Toonage, Cartoons DK's rendition brought a new energy to the classic tune. The original "Witch Doctor," notable for its high-pitched "oo-ee-oo-aah-aah" chorus and innovative voice recording techniques, was a huge hit in its time, peaking at number 1 on the Billboard Top 100. Ross Bagdasarian, who later created Alvin and the Chipmunks, used the same technique for the Chipmunks' voices. The Cartoons DK version reimagined the song with a Eurodance flair, maintaining the catchy chorus while infusing it with a dance beat and guitar breaks. The song's success was part of Cartoons DK's string of hits in the late 1990s, with "Witch Doctor" reaching number 2 on the UK Singles Chart in March 1999. The track charted well across Europe, including Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
