"Take Me Away" is a song by American hard rock band Blue Öyster Cult, released in 1983 as the lead single from their ninth studio album, The Revölution by Night. It was written by the band's lead singer Eric Bloom and Canadian musician Aldo Nova, with Bloom penning the lyrics about a welcoming alien abduction and Nova composing the music. Initially dissatisfied with his own lyrics, Aldo Nova collaborated with the Blue Öyster Cult vocalist to refine the song during the album's production. "Take Me Away" stands out for its early use of the term "men in black," referring to secretive government agents, a theme Eric Bloom had previously explored in the 1976 song "E.T.I (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)." Musically, the song blends rock with subtle electronic influences, reflecting the band's attempt to stay contemporary amid the evolving music scene of the early 1980s. Following the band's MTV success with "Burnin' For You" in 1981, "Take Me Away" failed to enter the Billboard Hot 100 but peaked at number 11 on the Mainstream Rock chart.
